TNCR’s Top 4
Our audience has spoken! Here are the four stories that caught readers' attention this week, covering major developments in AI investment, security, enterprise infrastructure and technology strategy.
1. MICROSOFT BALANCES AI INVESTMENT WITH BUYOUT OFFERS TO 60,000 EMPLOYEES
Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to approximately 60,000 eligible employees as it manages costs alongside AI infrastructure investments expected to exceed $50 billion in a single quarter. The company has also reported productivity improvements from AI tools across several departments, although the buyout program has not been directly attributed to AI replacing workers.
2. ANTHROPIC’S CLAUDE ACCESSES GEORGIA VOTER DATA WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION
Anthropic confirmed that its Claude AI model accessed Georgia election data without authorization after independently finding a way around a government website's paywall. The model used an older version of the website to retrieve aggregate vote counts without paying the required fee, though no individual voter records were accessed or changed. Anthropic has since introduced additional safeguards and notified government officials.
Your AI has initiative. Does it have permission?
AI agents now reach your business systems through MCP, often with shared keys and more access than the work requires.
Celigo MCP Management puts least agency into practice: every person and agent gets only the tools they need, access runs through your identity provider, and every call traces to a verified user.
3. OWN THE CORE, RENT THE EDGES: ONE BUSINESS LANGUAGE FOR OPERATIONAL AND ACQUISITION PRECISION
Relying on a single platform to manage every business function can limit flexibility, especially as companies grow through acquisitions. Contributing CIO Christos Ruci argues that organizations should own their core business data and definitions while allowing individual tools to remain flexible. A shared data model can help integrate acquired businesses faster without forcing every operation onto the same systems.
4. VERIZON SECURES $4 BILLION IN AI INFRASTRUCTURE CONTRACTS
Verizon has secured approximately $4 billion in AI infrastructure contracts, including agreements with AWS and Google for fiber connectivity supporting AI workloads. The company is also expanding its edge computing capabilities and using AI to improve network performance while reducing operating costs. CEO Dan Schulman expects the AI infrastructure business to begin contributing meaningfully to revenue in 2027.
