The whole idea of “how you get into tech” seems to be changing right in front of us. More students are skipping the traditional computer science path and heading straight into AI majors, and colleges are racing to keep up.

Schools like MIT, UC San Diego, and USF are launching programs that mix coding with machine learning, ethics, policy, and the real-world messiness of how AI actually gets used.

And students get it.

They’re looking at the job market and choosing the path that feels more future-proof.

What’s interesting is how closely this matches what we’re seeing in the industry. Companies can see how fast the ground is shifting under everyone’s feet, and they want people who can keep up with how that change affects the way work gets done.

So it raises a fun question…

If you were starting college today, would you make the same choice… or would you end up in one of these new AI-and-everything-else classrooms?

Because honestly, the next wave of technologists is being trained for a totally different world… and schools are actively designing programs that admit it.
